Nafeesah Roberts As-Salafeeyah, the great-granddaughter of Grand Midwife Daisy Roberts, believes in empowering women through holistic, culturally sensitive care during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. With over 12 years of professional doula experience, Nafeesah is DONA (Doulas of North America) trained and MNB (Mother Nature’s Belly) Doula Certified, having also served as a Midwifery Assistant in Atlanta, GA. Nafeesah blends traditional birthing practices with modern, evidence-based insight to offer consultation and education tailored to each family's unique journey — including birth preparation, postpartum recovery, and lactation support.
As the proud mother of six children and grandmother of seven, Nafeesah brings a deep, personal understanding of the sacred beauty and challenges of motherhood. She is the founder of the grassroots organization, The Mbegu Birthing Project in Mobile, AL, dedicated to addressing disparities in maternal health through community-based support and advocacy. She has also served as a Guest Doula Instructor with Atlanta’s Families First Community Doula Program and recently opened the Daisy Marie Doula Development Academy, training the next generation of birth workers.
Her work has been featured on iHeartRadio’s On the Damn Couch podcast, Femme South Podcast, Wildflowers and Fresh Food Cooking Show, Zora.Media.com, 3 Angel’s Voices Network, and NPR’s StoryCorps on Alabama Public Radio. At Daughters of Daisy Marie Doula Services, the mission is to provide unwavering support, guidance, and advocacy for women during the sacred and transformative experience of childbirth. I believe we can change our narratives one birth at a time by helping create new, beautiful birth legacies for mothers and families.
I am committed to fostering a space where cultural nuances are not only acknowledged but celebrated. Here, where traditional and modern care meet, I honor the wisdom of ancestral practices while embracing evidence-based approaches to create a holistic birthing experience.
I dedicate my sevices to ensuring that every woman feels heard, respected, and empowered as they navigate the intricate tapestry of pregnancy, labor, and postpartum.
At Daughters of Daisy Marie, I stand firmly by the belief that every woman deserves a doula and should feel empowered, supported, and deeply connected to her cultural roots.
